A Journey with Paxis Backpacks: Pat’s Tale of Adventure and Adaptation as a Longtime Paxis Users

Updated: Aug 6

Introduction to Paxis and Initial Purchase

Pat K, a dedicated photographer and outdoor enthusiast, has been a loyal customer and avid supporter of Paxis for several years. Her journey began in 2017 when she purchased her first backpack, the Mount Picket. Since then, she has also added the Twin Lakes backpack to her collection.

Distinct Features of Each Pack

For Pat, the Mt. Picket and Twin Lakes packs each offer distinct features tailored to different needs, influencing her decision to acquire both. Initially, Pat chose the Mt. Picket for its rigid construction, which is ideal for strapping the pack to a paddleboard. However, as her photography needs evolved, she found the Twin Lakes pack to be more suitable due to its roomier upper compartment, which could accommodate additional gear such as cameras, food, and sweatshirts.

Transition Between Packs

As a result, Pat sold the Mt. Picket to a co-worker who trains dogs, highlighting its utility in a different context. Eventually, recognizing the need for Mt. Picket's sturdier design for specific activities, Pat repurchased the pack from Paxis. This sequence of acquisitions reflects a thoughtful adjustment to changing requirements, balancing the need for both space and durability.

Challenges with Previous Packs

Before becoming a Paxis user, Pat mentioned that she had purchased many packs over the years that did not meet her photography needs. “As an avid photographer, I had two issues. First, most packs are designed by and sized for men and did not fit me. Second, I did not like having to remove the whole pack every time I wanted to access something inside,” Pat said.

Benefits of Paxis Backpacks

"Paxis solved both problems. I can adjust the pack to fit my smaller frame and put what I want to use the most in the pod," Pat explained. She also appreciates how the pod supports her photography equipment. "When [the pod] is clipped correctly, it acts as a little 'shelf' to put things on briefly while changing lenses or adding filters. There is no need to set things on the ground to be forgotten or stepped on."

Use in Different Activities

Pat often brings the Twin Lakes pack on hikes and uses the Mt. Picket as her go-to bag for Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP). The Mt. Picket is strapped down on the front of the board for easy access to the top compartment while paddling.

Memorable Experiences

Over the years, Pat has had numerous memorable experiences with both backpacks. "My favorite experience with the Mt. Picket was taking my cat and all the camera gear with me on the SUP. He would lie on top of the bag and co-captain the ship," Pat recalled. She also took the Twin Lakes pack to Sicily, where she spent three weeks abroad. "I traveled and toured with a friend, but also spent a lot of time by myself exploring and taking photos to my heart's content, all while carrying everything I needed with me," she said. "Both packs travel extremely well, either in the overhead compartment or at your feet on an airplane," Pat explained.

Sharing the Paxis Experience

Pat couldn’t be happier with her Paxis backpacks and enthusiastically shares her experiences with others. "My opening line for people is simply popping open the pod to retrieve something, even if I don't need anything. I get a lot of interest that way; then I explain how the pod/pack works," Pat said. "I tell everyone it's the only pack I will use and hand out business cards if they seem interested." She also mentioned that others often take pictures of her pack to remember its appearance. "I also want to mention that the couple who started the company live in Washington and are very nice," she added.

Customer Service and Quality

Moreover, Pat highlights the excellent customer service and high quality of Paxis packs. "Once you buy it, you’ll never need another," she concluded.

A Happy Paxis Customer

Pat K’s experiences with Paxis backpacks reflect her evolving needs and the brand’s ability to meet them. Her stories of adventure and satisfaction underscore Paxis's thoughtful design and exceptional quality, making their backpacks a cherished part of her outdoor and photography pursuits.
